Britain’s Got Talent judges were once again blown away by the talent oozing out of South Africa’s very own Belinda Davids during her performance on the show on Saturday [September 26]. And even though she was not chosen to move forward during this round, her journey on the show is not over yet.
Davids (43) who hails from Port Elizabeth received a standing ovation from judges David Williams, Ashley Banjo, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.
The artists performing on Saturday night included magician Jasper Cherry, Junior Orchestra, singing and dancing duo Katherine and Joe O’Malley, comedy singer Jon Courtenay, contortionist Papi Flex, singer Belinda Davids, danger magic act Kevin Quantum and dance duo Billy and Chantelle.
The top three acts chosen by the panel included Belinda Davids, Jon Courtenay and Jasper Cherry. Each judge then voted for their favourite, and Jon Courtenay was sent through to the final. It is far from over for Davids though, all the remaining acts will go through to the viewer vote with the results to be revealed in the final.
Her performance of Whitney Houston’s “I have Nothing” was faultless, as were her previous performances on the hit show.
Banjo said Davids blew her away, “That hit me, right down to my soul. It was passionate, soulful, pure and incredible.”
Williams called her performance absolutely electrifying from start to end. “You honoured her in the most beautiful way you possibly could,” he said in response to her singing.
The finale will happen on 10 October – where 5 semi-finalists will compete for the title – as well as £250 000 (R5.4-million) and the chance to be on the Royal Variety Performance. We’re holding thumbs that they viewers chose Davids, her talent is so moving, how can they not!
