If you’re feeling a little disconnected from your better half, it’s time to do something special. Cape Town is littered with romantic spots and fun activities to spoil your special person.
We’ve rounded up some of the best places to spend a romantic evening in the City.
Discover new drinking holes

The Gin Bar is an oasis, hidden in a courtyard behind Honest Chocolate Café in Wale Street. You may choose any tonic you want but you can only have gin with it. The courtyard is serene and welcoming – a perfect spot for meaningful conversation and quality time gazing into each others’ eyes.

Watch a movie – outdoors

Every event is unique and can include anything from romantic comedies, cult classics, musicals, adventure sports and documentaries. There’s no shortage of food either. Enjoy pizzas, tapas, burgers and schwarmas when the hunger bites.

Go to the theatre
If you’re not into movies, then why not try a live theatre show at any one of Cape Town world-class venues. Catch Cinderella on Ice at the Artscape Theatre. If fairytales are not your thing, then try Tsotsi the Musical – a gritty tale about a gang leader, based on the novel by Athol Fugard and produced by Cape Town Opera. You can also still watch King Kong at The Fugard Theatre. More 50 years since the first performance in 1959, the Fugard Theatre’s production of this iconic musical has received rave reviews.

Hike up Lion’s Head – at night
It goes without saying that Cape Town is just as spectacular at night, as it is in the daylight. The best way to appreciate this, and get some alone time with your partner, would be by hiking up Lion’s Head at night. The full moon hike takes about one hour, and the reward is a spectacular view of the beauty that is Cape Town city centre, the Atlantic Seaboard, Robben Island and Blouberg. Pack plenty of water, comfortable shoes and something warm. You may want to stay up there for a while.
Try a night spa and dinner package
The Heavenly Spa at the Westin lives up to its name, and if you’re happy to spoil yourself and your partner, this may be the package to do it. The spa offers panoramic views, a decadent menu and incredible spa treatments like the African Wood massage and the tri-scented Shea Body Nugget massage (We have idea what they are, but they sound amazing). Try a three-course meal at ON19 restaurant after a nourishing 45-minute treatment.
