Stop the press: Alvin Ailey is coming to Cape Town.

The American Dance Theatre is returning to South Africa for the first time in 17 years for shows and workshops in both Cape Town and Joburg in September this year.

Founded in 1958 by dancer, choreographer and visionary Alvin Ailey, his intention was to bring African-American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to the world. The highly acclaimed New York-based company, led by artistic director Robert Battle, is gracing our country with its presence with an exciting schedule that includes 20 performances and a variety of educational activities for students.

Capetonians can witness their skill, strength and grace in seven shows at Artscape Theatre from 16 to 20 September 2015. Purchase your tickets soon to avoid missing out (we predict they’ll sell out pretty fast).
