UPDATE
It has been confirmed that the supporting band for the tour will be The Raven Age. Tickets will be going on sale this Thursday (17 September) at 9 am from Big Concerts or Computicket. Ticket prices range from R510 – R905 for the Cape Town show, happening on the 18th of May at the Grand Arena.
Iron Maiden have announced on their website that South Africa will be included in the list of stops for The Book of Souls world tour. A Cape Town leg of the tour is undoubtedly going to happen and has happened before back in 1995 – minus lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson at the time.
The legendary metal band, formed in 1975 in England, have gone platinum and gold numerous times since the 1980’s, establishing themselves as pioneers of the British heavy metal sound.
I absolutely can’t wait to see Bruce Dickinson take to the stage. Interestingly enough, Iron Maiden’s lead vocalist is also a pilot, currently in training to operate a sophisticated Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet to navigate six out of the seven continents as part of the tour – the new Ed Force One will take the band, crew and over 12 tons of equipment more than 55,000 miles (88,500km) around the planet. Not bad for a 57-year old.
Book of Souls will be released on 4th September, with the world tour to follow in 2016. We’ll be posting more info when it becomes available.
