Based on the classic play by J.M Barrie, the magical musical version of Peter Pan will be on show at the Canal Walk Theatre this winter. Be whisked away to Neverland as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and the Darling children amaze theatregoers by the all the wonders and magic it holds during the winter holidays this year.

For the young or just plain young at heart, every filled seat will be riveted by the mermaids of Mermaid Lagoon, Indian Princess Tiger Lilly and her panther, the Lost Boys and the evil Captain Hook along with his pirates aboard the Jolly Roger this July.

The spectacular show with original music is directed by the award-winning duo, Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyer, who often have their work presented to the likes of European and American stages. With talented directors comes a star-studded cast and this version of Peter Pan is no different.

The role of Peter Pan is played by Grant Almiral, who’s numerous stage appearances include the lead role in ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ in South Africa, Australia and Japan, as well as an award-winning performance as Frankie Vallie in the Broadway hit, Jersey Boys.

The evil Captain Hook is played by one of the top classic actors of his generation, Marcel Meyer. He has many stage credits such as acclaimed performances as Hamlet, Lago, Romeo, Oberon to name a few, as well as other classical roles both abroad and in South Africa.

The magical role of everyone’s favourite, Tinkerbell, is played by newcomer Raine Waring.

Just as the author of Peter Pan, J.M Barrie, celebrated the spirit of giving by entrusting the rights to Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London to help raise funds, CWSC is donating the proceeds from this production to the LEAP Science and Maths Schools initiative. This is in addition to the sum of R250 000 that will be donated by the Hyprop Foundation.

Even more support towards this worthy cause will be generated through the building of a giant mosaic made out of tins of food. The public are invited to help transform the Food Court at Canal Walk Shopping Centre with the building of the artwork on 18 July 2017. Theatregoers and shoppers alike are also invited to donate a can of tin food to the cause, by dropping off one or more tins of food at the Toys R Us store in Canal Walk.

Escape to Neverland by booking your tickets today. Don’t forget to bring a tin of food along to the show and the organisers will add it to the mosaic building kit.
