We live in a world fuelled by quick, quirky and sometimes downright questionable trends. But every once in a while, something comes along that is highly relatable and chuckle-inducing.

The ‘Tell Me Without Telling Me” trend breaks down like this:

In a nutshell, people are asked to share something about themselves without actually saying it directly. So for example, if the topic is “tell me you’re a millennial without actually telling me you’re a millennial”, a response could be calmly whipping out a flip phone. If you know, you know.

The latest variant of the TikTok challenge has taken on a proudly South African feel: “Tell me you’re South African without telling me you’re South African.”

Posted by popular South African TikTokkers, the stitches (when you reply to someone’s video on the app) and comments have been equally hilarious and accurate.

Here are some of our favourites.
