Avid fans of HBO’s hit show Games of Thrones (GOT) will be delighted to learn that the television network has announced GOT will be returning in April 2019. This means that Throners are just four and a half months away from the end.

HBO has remained tight-lipped on most of the details of the final season.

What has been revealed is that David Benioff, D.B Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors of Season Eight, and its six episodes will all have feature-length runtimes of 80 minutes or longer.

All episodes will also be written by Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman, and Dave Hill.

“[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer. We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes,” GOT star, Liam Cunningham (Sir Davos Seaworth), said in an interview with TV Guide in October.

In September, GOT received its third Emmy for the category of Outstanding Drama Series, bringing its overall Emmy wins to 38 trophies.
