Okay, here’s a challenge. Let’s pretend that this is a handwritten Mother’s Day card, found on the bedside table with a warm cup of coffee. Before the card is opened by my still-half-asleep mom, I look at her with teary eyes, and gratitude in my heart, my voice buckles as I whisper: “Happy Mother’s Day, mammie.”

She grabs my hand tightly, and proceeds to read the card…

To: My favorite mammie

From : Your favourite, Jay-tee

My rock and first love, thank you for choosing me every single day. I have never seen anyone carry the world on their shoulders so gracefully. Not only are you my favourite karaoke partner, but worked two jobs, and still managed to tuck me in with a gentle kiss at night. My warrior, the world is a bright and beautiful place because you are in it. I love you more than the two of us love chocolate combined.

Happy Mother’s Day…

Your forever little girl,

Jay-tee
