The school holidays have just begun and perhaps the kids are already moaning, “Im bo-ored” as they flick through to the next TV channel and stare at you blankly hoping you have the perfect solution. Although it may be a bit chilly outside we have compiled a list of activities to get the kids out and about for the day and will keep you from pulling out your hair.
Ratanga junction may be closed but that doesn’t mean the fun stops there – Cape Town has an array of events to get the whole family involved in.
Let the kids explore their creative abilities and express themselves at Artjam, located at the V&A Waterfront. The younger kids are allowed to get involved in the ‘messy’ play and Artjam has a holiday line up of events. From the 25 June – 13 July 2018, Artjam will host ‘music and movement’ sessions for various ages.

2. Scratch Patch and Cave Golf
What kid doesn’t love sifting through thousands of little stones to find their ‘diamond’ – the scratch patch is the perfect hunt and adventure for the kids. Along with being a scratch patch there is an indoor putt-putt course and makes for a full day of activity. Both of these venues are located at the V & A Waterfront and near family friendly restaurants to grab a bite after a full day.

Enjoy a family affair of fun as you bowl against each other, located in Stadium on Main in Claremont, Lets go bowling is situated next to a gaming arcade that gives parents the nostalgia of catching a teddy from the ever famous ‘crane game’. There is a kids special hosted every Saturday from 8:30 – 10:30 for R35 and includes a drink and NikNaks.

6. PlayDate SuperPark and Hint Hunt
A venue that offers a jam packed day of fun for everyone – an indoors activity park that has mazes, escape rooms, a rope course , a role play initiative to encourage imaginative thought and much more. The park is a child’s wildest dream come true – there is a dedicated WiFi and work area if you plan on clocking some more hours while the kids go and play. The Superpark is home to Hint Hunt, a live mystery game where the players must solve a puzzle to escape. The thrilling adventure is the perfect event to get the family bonding.

Enter a winter wonderland at the Ice Station, located at Grand West Casino – hiring a pair of skates cost R60 and sessions are a total of two and a half hours. The ice skating rink is kid friendly and has stand by emergency services – there is a current special of R 495 for beginner lessons in ice skating.

Get the whole family moving with Dutch style bicycles as you ride around the V & A Waterfront or Sea Point Promenade – there are special types of bikes allocated for kids of all ages and include bikes seats for toddlers. A child seat costs R60 and one full hour on the road as you roam cost R 70, helmets and locks are provided free of charge.
