For us, it’s good company, great food, delicious cocktails and the beach – preferably all at once. That’s exactly what you get at The Grand Africa Café and Beach. One of Cape Town’s hidden gems, The Grand is a place that screams fun in the sun. Neatly tucked away in Granger Bay, it’s a chilled spot where you can hang out, enjoy a meal or have some drinks with your mates.

And with its recent revamp, there’s so much more to enjoy! The best elements of The Grand are still there: you can indulge in their awesome menu in the hangar or on the beach, enjoy a giant game of chess or simply soak up the sun’s rays. But with the new themed areas, doing all of this is a lot more fun. Try the Spier Secret Courtyard,  filled with comfy white sofas for a relaxing afternoon of drinks and canapés. The chess board has also bee moved closer to this area so you can set up a friendly game between friends or watch the kids play in the sand.

The Grand Main Beach now offers two areas – the original restaurant setting and a more laid-back spot with high tables and day beds for holiday-goers wanting to get in some R&R. Here, you can enjoy smooth live music, feel the sand between your toes and soak up some sun.  If you’re not the biggest fan of sand, there’s plenty of seating inside too. The Space has been divided into the Grand Tanqueray Café Society Bar and Dining Hall and is the epitome of luxe dining. Think great chandeliers, fantastic artwork and exquisite table settings. The side of the hangar has been opened so you can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean beyond the sand.

Over and above all the changes, one constant remains: The Grand Africa is a fantastic place to spend a few hours on a beach enjoying amazing food in a spectacular setting.
