With harvest season now over and that familiar winter chill creeping in ever so suddenly, wine lovers know where to head to at this time of year. The annual Elgin Cool Wine & Country Food Festival is a haven for lovers of great cool-climate wines and country-style food with flair. And this year’s festival is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever with a highly impressive list of participating wineries and a horde of activities for all ages.
Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or a wine novice, there’s something new to be discovered at the Elgin Cool Wine & Country Food Festival, taking place on 29th and 30th April 2017. The festival is a fantastic amalgamation of the region’s wine farms, allowing guests to travel freely between these wineries to enjoy the programmes set out by the numerous participating wineries in the valley.
Pairings, tastings, blending sessions and more will be centred around the wine aspect, while food will be factored in through exciting inclusions such as pop-up kitchens and numerous food trucks – think tapas, lamb on the spit, cheese platters, sushi and, of course, the usual high standard of food from notable eateries such as Fresh at Paul Cluver. For the younger visitors, a kiddie’s playground, tractor rides, face painting and jumping castles will provide hours of fun.
Earlybird tickets are selling for R140 until 28th April via Webtickets with access to the participating farms, a tasting glass and a festival programme included. Tickets will cost R160 thereafter and will also be available at the start of the event from Peregrine Farm Stall.
