Highbury Media, owners of Cape Town Etc, is committing a massive R1-million to the promotion of Cape Town’s ravaged restaurant industry.
Highbury Media CEO Kevin Ferguson confirmed the allocation of R1-million in advertising spend to benefit and showcase restaurants in Cape Town, as well as content creation for those restaurants severely affected because of lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I have lived in Cape Town for the past 25 years. It is a city in my heart and I am a big admirer of the restaurant culture in Cape Town. It is painful to see how the pandemic has decimated so many restaurants and how so many people in the industry have suffered.
“We want to help give back and contribute to people living and earning again,” said Ferguson.
With a massive platform like Cape Town Etc and even bigger ones within the Highbury Media stable, Ferguson called on any restaurant in Cape Town to contact the company so they can help create awareness, promote their menus and specials, and the experience of visiting their establishment.

“We know these restaurants currently don’t have marketing spend and this is our way of giving these amazing people something back.”
Ferguson urged his media colleagues in Cape Town to add to the Highbury initiative in promoting the recovery of the restaurant trade.
“This is a time for us to be strong as a collective and to give back to those who in the past have invested in our media businesses.”
He also challenged other business executives to get involved and support the restaurant industry.
“The restaurant space plays a huge part in Cape Town and adds to the vibrancy of this fantastic city’s appeal,’ said Ferguson. ‘To other executives and CEO’s in the media, let’s get behind the restaurant industry and help get people earning and fed again.
“And whatever your story is in making a difference to people’s lives, we will promote it on Cape Town Etc and our relevant other Highbury digital and print platforms.
“We have all taken a commercial beating as business owners, but those in the restaurant industry have taken a beating more severe than most.
“Let’s all help influence the change and in the next six months bring life back to those eating places that make our city so vibrant,” he concluded.
