Ever been hungry but in a hurry– and not in the mood for McD’s? We know the feeling. You don’t always have time to sit down for a long lunch at a top restaurant but still crave wholesome, well-cooked food. Enter Chefs, the new on-the-go concept eatery situated on St John’s Street in Gardens.
With no printed menus and no waiters, patrons simply check the restaurant’s website each day for the three meals available, order and pay on arrival via an iPad then take a seat at an unfussy wooden table where a Chef will appear momentarily with your plated meal served on a signature Chefs’ tray. The space itself is designed with ease of convenience in mind: the kitchen and seating area merge into one so customers gain visual access to the prepping and assembling of their food.
The brainchild of Justin Letschert, of globally successful skincare brand Bio-Oil, who partnered up with Adam Whiteman of hotspots The Power and The Glory and Hallelujah fame, Chefs’ menu is curated by Chef Jenny Ward who plates contemporary dishes in three categories – light meal, veggie option or substantial meat, chicken or fish dish. Expect culinary masterpieces of wood-roasted artichokes served with sweet potato thyme gnocchi, bourbon BBQ-basted Karoo lamb with crispy straw chips, and salads with salmon tartare and raw coconut chilli salsa. There’s also a daily dessert that can be added to your meal.
