Which is exactly the reason behind their new café venture, NOW NOW. This swish new eatery specialises in scrumptious yet nutritious fare that’ll be easy on your wallet and most importantly, be ready for you in a jiffy.
Simply download the NOW NOW app to your phone (free on Android and iOS), place your order and pay for it while you’re still at the office, then pop over to the store to collect. Your food will be waiting for you when you get there, meaning the rest of your lunch break is yours to enjoy however you wish.
And because Woolworths is all about convenience, you can still order in-store too – with a reduced waiting time compared to other fast food chains. The café lives up to its name with a less than five-minute waiting period between the time you place your order and receive it. They don’t do plates either so sit-down customers have the option of grabbing a tray along with cutlery on a stand next to the till.
As for the food? It boasts the unbeatable Woolworths standard that South Africans have come to know and love. The dishes are inspired by international cuisine but cooked with only premium domestic ingredients. Expect a wide assortment of wraps, salads and burgers, as well as gluten-, wheat- and dairy-free options.
Our recommendations? The Bircher Pot – a blend of natural rooibos, Bircher muesli, double-cream yoghurt, apple juice, cranberries and toasted seeds – will ensure your day gets off to a good start. Or go for the trout bun, a lightly toasted English muffin filled with layers of fried egg, fresh trout, crème fraîche and dill.
And for coffee fanatics, the coffee menu sports drinks made with 100% locally roasted, organic African beans. Choose from the usual coffee fare doused with Ayrshire milk or unsweetened almond milk, or on a hot day, indulge in a cold juice shot or smoothie – all freshly made, of course.
