It’s no secret. Franschhoek is foodie heaven. People from all over the world flock to the area to try out some of the incredible food on offer. The Restaurant at Grande Provence is one such place. Here you can enjoy exquisite food in a beautiful setting.
The Restaurant has an elegant interior and spills outside under oak trees so you can soak up the summer sun. Executive Chef Darren Badenhorst has created a summer menu that tastes as good as it looks. Inspired by the precision of French cuisine, the bold flavours of Asia, and locally sourced ingredients, Chef Darren has perfected his menu for you to enjoy.
You can choose from the three course à la carte lunch or six course set menu, but either way you are sure to have a delectable meal. Highlights to the menu include his signature 18-hour pork belly, sand rabbit, and confit pulled duck terrine for starters.
Meat lovers can tuck into hot smoked blesbok shank with a toasted coriander crunch, or a slow braised beef short rib served with Asian pickled mustard and exotic mushrooms. In the mood for fish? There is a masala-cured salmon starter, chimichurri-baked local hake, local cob with vanilla, and tonka squid ink risotto.
There are also great vegetarian options, like local oyster mushroom with salt cured BBQ cauliflower, and an asparagus garden of smoked pea arancini. On the sweeter side of things, you can expect caramelised white chocolate pot au crème, a salted and bitter chocolate golden semi-sphere tasting plate, and a summer berry ‘ice cream sandwich’.
If this tempts you, head on over to the The Resturant at Grande Provence Heritage Wine farm.
