Chef’s Warehouse on Bree Street is open again, but with a little twist and shake.
This is part of chefs Liam Tomlin’s new vision for a market-like eatery in Heritage Square in the middle of town. While La Cantina and Mazza have already been open for some time, they are now gaining a new addition. Chefs Warehouse is being reopened as a wine and pinchos bar.
Much like its sibling restaurants in Heritage Square, it will focus on a specific flavours and food origin. Pinchos are a variation of tapas. The difference is that tapas are a small portion of food served with a drink, while pinchos (or pintxos) are an aperitif usually served with a cocktails stick. The word “pinchos” comes from the verb “to pinch”.
These will include treats like jamon Iberico – aged, acorn-fed cured leg of ham, sardines and tomato on toast, salt-baked prawns with roasted garlic aioli, and potato croquettes with chorizo.

This new offering will be headed up by Chef Gordon Logan who previously worked at Foliage in Franschhoek.
Alongside these Spanish treats, diners can enjoy a wide selection of South African wines or some creative original cocktails.
The new restaurant will operate from Tuesday to Saturday 12pm- 10:00pm with last tables seated at 8:30pm to be able to keep with COVID-19 curfew. No bookings allowed, so be prepared to wait for a table.
