Although tucked away on the outskirts of the V&A Waterfront, Shimmy Beach Club is a summertime must for Cape locals and a luxurious indulgence for international visitors. With its private beach, pool deck, 220-seater restaurant, two bars, stage and two meeting rooms, Shimmy offers something for everyone – from a quiet lunch and a splash in one of its pool to an intimate dinner or a good time at one of the many music events hosted there.
This summer, though, Shimmy is upping both its food and music offerings. Its newly launched Shimmy Summer Menu consists of a host of flavourful delicacies, including yummy morsels of vegetarian cuisine. Expect sushi, dim sum, red-eye robata grilled lamb, cured duck breast, tuna tacos and mushroom burgers – and that’s just the half of it! If you’re more of a sweet tooth, save a space for their Baked Alaska – it’s the ideal dessert for hot days lounging poolside – or get adventurous with toasted Brioche, Banoffee cheesecake and popcorn crème brûlée.
Summer isn’t complete without good, live music – and Shimmy knows this all too well. Along with their resident Sunday gigs by SA electronic duo Goldfish, running from 27 November to 8 January, they’ve bagged another big superstar to make your Fridays a lot more fun. This December, DJ Black Coffee will be kickstarting weekends at Shimmy so be sure to book your ticket well in advance.
