Muizenberg is one of the top 20 surfing towns in the world according to National Geographic magazine. The hangout spots along the beach are starting to rise to the occasion as well. A new, popular kid on the block – Tiger’s Milk – is adding a buzzing nightlife that’s definitely welcome.
The décor of the restaurant and bar is as quirky as its name. Its rustic, antique character is blended with an element of laid-back fun with chairs that don’t match, recycled decanters used as interesting light fixtures, and a suspended wooden roof along the bar.
The view of Muizenberg’s shoreline will have you gazing and snapping pics just as it had me from my table. You’re bound to make a friend as some of the tables have shared-seating arrangements; plus, comfortable couches add for a more social experience.
The appetizers can be meals on their own with a yummy serving of prawns or grilled calamari to BBQ pork ribs. Then, there’s the mains selection from steaks to pan-fried line fish and a variety of pizzas. I found the food tasted hearty and fresh, and my glass was never empty thanks to the bar. Depending on your taste, you can enjoy a cocktail, or choose from a range of wines or beers, or go for the harder stuff.
The Tiger’s Milk family has grown recently. You can find the same eccentric, easy-going atmosphere in a new Long Street branch too.
