Rafiki’s has been an institution in Cape Town for the past 15 years. The unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere and good food attract locals and visitors alike. Sadly, the old faithful is set to close its doors in June 2016. It’s your last couple of months to take advantage of the awesome weekly events that they are hosting.
Monday is pizza night. Rafikis’ pizza has always been good but it gets even better because you can tuck into pizza for half price at the start of the week.
Tuesday is Beer Pong day every week from 8 pm. Who can say no to shooting ping pongs balls and beer for prizes like fold-up beer pong tables, skateboards, Rafiki’s vouchers, Darling Beer 5 litre kegs, and clothing hampers? If you get dressed up in a crazy costume, you may enter for free, and you stand to win a prize for best costume; otherwise it will cost 30 bucks to play. The game will commence tournament style with a minimum of eight teams. Sign up on the social media event page wall with player and team names or on the Rafiki’s bar wall.
Wednesday is dubbed Unholy Guacamole and you can get your burrito on with half-price Mexican food (marked on the menu) and margaritas to celebrate mid-week madness.
Thursday is prize night when you can enter to win all sorts of awesome prizes like unique surfboards and event tickets. To take part, fill a card with five cocktails or SAB draughts (on any day) but you have to be there on Thursday to win. See what covetable prizes went down last month on Rafiki’s social media.
You don’t need an excuse for Friday and Saturday; the vibe on the massive wraparound balcony that overlooks Kloof Nek Road and the affordable menu is more than enough. They have at least six TVs so you miss the sport either.
Sunday is the day when you can sip on cocktails for half price all day and night as DJs spin vibey beats. The cocktails are already reasonably priced, so take it easy as you work your way through the menu.
Head over to the local hot spot for an excellent vibe and see Rafiki’s off with a bang.
