A four-course meal in an award-winning winelands restaurant may become more of a reality than a dream for date night this winter.

Stellenbosch eatery Terrior and the restaurant’s award-winning chef Michael Broughton, are offering both Stellenbosch locals and visitors the opportunity to taste the full à la carte menu at a special price. Guests will be spoilt for choice with two dishes on offer (starter/main/dessert) from the restaurants French-inspired chalkboard menu, for just R295 per person. A glass of Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection wine is included in the deal.

This year the main course boasts lavish slices of flame-grilled dry-aged sirloin served on top of a celeriac velouté, accompanied by brisket croustillants and a garden of baby vegetables. A taste of Hollandaise brings the perfect hint of acidity to the array of flavours. A side order of aligot – a dish of French origin made up of potato whipped with Comté cheese and butter – is strongly recommended.

Vegetarians, don’t fret. Terrior has made sure to keep vegetarian diners taken care of this winter. Broughton’s light and feathery pan-fried potato gnocchi served atop salsa verde, alongside baby vegetables and raw mushrooms will fill you up this cold winter season. An ample shaving of black truffle welcomes a delicious hit of umami to the plate.

Broughton says the vegetarian dish is “our vegetarian’s delight”. The chef has integrated many bold umami flavours into his menu this winter, often in dishes you’d least expect.

The sesame-crusted tuna loin with white bean and miso purée alongside an umami-packed broth made with ginger, dashi, soy and rice wine vinegar and seaweed, promises to be an unforgettable flavour experience.

If two dishes just aren’t enough for your palette, Terrior is also treating its guests to the choice of a multi-course tasting menu for the first time ever. The four-course tasting experience offers diners the choice of any four dishes from the à la carte menu at R395 per person. Slightly smaller portions are served, allowing guests to uncover more of the menu. The option of a wine-pairing is available too, with a Kleine Zalze wine paired with each course. The four-course tasting along with the wine-pairing costs R495 per person.

A night of exquisite wining and dining on the terrace or next to their toasty fireplace is an unforgettable experience. Taste the flavour creations of Broughton’s talent and winelands cuisine at Terrior this winter.
