Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa in Mauritius will play host to the internationally-acclaimed The Test Kitchen for six weeks at the Republik Beach Club & Grill.
Guests will be invited to experience a unique culinary journey curated by the award-winning Chef-Patron of The Test Kitchen Luke Dale-Roberts from 12 April – 26 May 2018. His name is synonymous with the finest, most innovative and creative food in Africa.
Dale-Roberts will be bringing his outstanding gourmet experience to the island of Mauritius with a tantalizing tapas menu, as well as a five-course menu. Two variations of the five-star menu will be served at different dates which will reflect his worldly travels as well as showcase Mauritian spices and flavours at their best.
The pristine white beaches of Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa will provide a stunning backdrop for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dale-Roberts will be accompanied by his team of seventeen chefs to share their expertise with the resort’s chefs.
The experience doesn’t end there. Guests will also be treated to a unique tableside cocktail blending.
Opened in 2010 by Dale-Roberts, The Test Kitchen consists of a Dark Room and a Light Room which are only open for dinner. The dining experience commences in the Dark Room, with a snack menu paired with specially curated cocktails, followed by a five-course gourmet menu in the Light Room. In the Dark Room, guests are presented with a “Food Map” on a parchment scroll informing them of the culinary treasures they are about to experience shortly. This is followed by the arrival of the first five Dark Room dishes. The Light Room is an airier, more formal room with a menu that is reflective of Dale-Roberts’ journeys around the world. The signature dishes include a Peruvian ceviche harking back to his months in South America, and a “Billionaire’s Shortbread” as a nod to the chef’s love of Scotland.
In an echo to The Test Kitchen’s Dark Room and Light Room, guests will start their evening in the Republik Bar area to enjoy the tapas menu with cocktails inspired by the Dark Room. Their gastronomic journey will continue at the beautiful beachfront restaurant with a five-star gourmand menu in tribute to the iconic Light Room.
Apart from Republik Beach Club & Grill, Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa also houses six other trendy and cutting-edge restaurants and bars. The hotel boasts two swimming pools, an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course, a kid’s club. The resort is home to CHI, The Spa which focuses on indigenous and holistic wellness. The resort also features Ilot Mangénie; a private island exclusively accessible to resort’s guests as well as three iconic beach villas which come replete with dedicated teams of staff.
The Test Kitchen Mauritius experience is priced at MUR 3,500 (R1250) per person, including a snack menu of four dishes served tapas style in the Dark Room and a five-course gourmand menu in the Light Room.
