The Hussar Grill has long been an institution in Cape Town, for over 50 years to be exact, for lovers of steak and other comforting meals you would expect from an established grill with a positive reputation.
I had noticed that the Hussar Grill brand has repeatedly been bestowed upon it the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award for five years running, further research led me to find that its Green Point grill has been ranked into the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame.
It had been at least ten years since I had last visited The Hussar Grill, and TripAdvisor never lies, so I grabbed my partner and hit the Rondebosch grill on a Saturday night to enjoy the Hussar experience once again.
It was everything I had remembered – from the cosy, wooden interior to the extensive wine list and complete selection of steaks, even seafood was thrown into the mix. My pescatarian partner approved! I tucked into a 300g rump with béarnaise sauce and my partner went with the prawns – value for money at R14 per King Prawn.
Overall, The Hussar Grill makes for a great night out for families, friends and couples. Previous visitors can expect the same classy, upbeat atmosphere with great food and wine. Certainly worthy of visit again, especially to fend off the winter chill!
