Driving in the Cape is always a treat – the roads curve to fit the hilly landscape and you’ll always find an incredible view to enjoy. But being in a car isn’t the only way to appreciate travelling through the city and Winelands. Here are a few cool transport options you can hire to enjoy your time in Cape Town even more.

1 Hire a boat

Ever looked at the ocean sprawled in front of you and just wanted to hop on a boat and sail away? Well, getting your hands on a boat is a lot easier now thanks to Ocean Image Boat Rentals. It’s the first and only company that offers boat rentals – yes, that means you can hire a boat just as you would a car – with the entire fleet being SAMSA certified and surveyed. Plus, each boat is equipped with all the necessary safety equipment and maritime certificates. The hire prices excludes fuel consumption costs.

Whizzing through the city street on a scooter is always a good idea, particularly during peak traffic time! Cape Town Scooter Hire operates a number of 125cc and 150cc scooters that are electric-start and easy to ride. You get a helmet with your hire and if you’d like to bring a passenger along, you can hire an additional helmet for R50 per day.

Cycling is one of the best ways to see the city. You spot all those little details on the sidewalks that you’d normally miss. Cape Town Cycle Hire lets you hire road and mountain bikes so you can go exploring, plus if you’re staying anywhere between the Cape Town CBD and Camps Bay, you can have your bike delivered and collected for free. The company offers great suggestions for both road and mountain bike routes to try and all bikes are fitted with a pump, puncture kit, tyre levers and a multi tool where needed. Helmets and locks are also provided and booking is essential.
