Clanwilliam was founded in the early eighteenth century, making it one of the oldest towns in South Africa. Some attractions and activities highlight the heritage and rich settler history of the town. You could take a tour to view the rock art left by the San people or visit the original leather veldskoene factory.
The nearby Ramskop Nature Reserve is home to more than 200 species of indigenous wildflowers. Spring may be a long way away, but make a note that Clanwilliam is an ideal spot for viewing the colourful wildflowers when they are in full bloom in August and September.
Clanwilliam is also well known for cultivating Rooibos tea and you can take a tour to learn all about it. Visit the Rooibos Tea House to experience tea tastings and stock up on unique Rooibos products.
