Having lived in Cape Town all our lives, we thought there wasn’t much more to learn about this beautiful city. How mistaken we were! We’ve been missing out…
On a sunny Sunday morning we headed off to the Waterfront where we hopped on board the City Sightseeing Bus to experience the Mother City from the top of an open double-decker bus. My husband and I, and our two daughters, aged six and three, kitted with hats, sunglasses and sunscreen, were ready for the day’s adventure. We put on our headphones to listen to the educational history of the Cape while we cruised along. Any concerns that the children might be bored were banished when we discovered there was a special channel for them which told the Cape Town story in a child-friendly manner. In fact, they were so enthused by it that we weren’t allowed to interrupt them even for a snack!
We stopped at several iconic points where guests could hop on or off as they wished. We jumped off in Hout Bay for fresh fish and chips before catching the next bus to continue our adventure. We took in the beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean from the shores of Llandudno, Camps Bay and Clifton and marvelled at the magnificent Twelve Apostles, Table Mountain and Lion’s Head which seemed to tower above us. What a fantastic opportunity, thoroughly enjoyed by the entire family. It’s no wonder Cape Town is one of the world’s top tourist destinations and there can be no better way to see it!
