The weekly Cape Town dam level statistics have just been released. After last week’s drop of 0.1% compared to the previous week’s increase, but now we’re back at where we were two weeks ago – with a 0.1% increase in dam levels since last Monday.
Today we’re feeling the approach of summer. A maximum of 30 degrees predicted for this afternoon has us enjoying the change of season – but dreading what it means for the Cape Town water crisis. Some good news is that a cold front will be with us by the early hours of tomorrow morning, bringing along with it an estimated 10mm of rainfall in some places. Temperatures will decrease as the front passes us by on Wednesday, before it begins to warm up in time for the weekend.
Some light snow has been forecast for the higher Western Cape peaks tomorrow night, with it potentially reaching as close as the mountains just beyond Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl.
There was barely any rainfall last week, but enough to raise dam levels by a very minimal 0.1%.
Residents are strongly advised to adhere to level 5 water restrictions which are now in place.
