The good news continues for the Mother City’s dam levels this week, as overall storage has hit 88% capacity as of Monday, August 24.
Dam levels have increased by 4% since last week, with the fullest dams being Berg River at 100.4%, Steenbras Upper at 98.9% and Steenbras Lower at 95.3%.
At this time last year, overall water storage was at 81.7%, a stark contrast to the 60.7% in 2018 and 33.4% in 2017.
Mild temperatures and three more days of rain are expected in Cape Town this week.
The City’s aquifer project launched earlier this month, aiming to bring an additional 30-million litres of water per day to Cape Town’s water systems for the first phase and reduce the pressure on the dams.
