The Western Cape has 2427 active cases of COVID-19 as of 1pm, 19 March. The province’s total number of COVID-19 infections has now reached 278 338 confirmed cases and 264 512 recoveries. This indicates a maintained 95 percent recovery rate.

A total of 30 508 out of the 31 260 vaccines received to date, as part of the Sisonke trial, had been administered by 5pm on 18 March, reports Premier Alan Winde. This indicates that 97.6 percent of the total number of vaccines have been used.

The Western Cape has recorded 12 additional deaths, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the province to 11 399.
