South Africa is addressing plastic pollution, and how it has a negative impact on humans, animals and environmental health.
Munch Innovations, founded in 2014, makes edible bowls that are an eco-friendly alternative, replacing plastic bowls that the catering and restaurant industry use. The bowls are manufactured in Cape Town and are sold locally while exporting to countries such as Ghana, Dubai and Belgium.
The ingredients used to make the bowls are carefully chosen. Unbleached and stone-ground wheat flour (gluten), bran (gluten), canola oil (plant-based) and rooibos extract are all used. No GMO products, yeast or any artificial colourants or flavouring. It is absolutely safe for vegans to eat too.
The edible crisp wheat bowls are capable of holding any food for more than 5 hours while maintaining its crispness and shape. If stored in a cool dry place, the wheat bowls can last up to 15 months on the shelf. If it’s in need of some restoration, place it in the oven for 3-5 minutes – yum!
