The “Sunday scaries” sounds like something straight out of a Jordan Peele horror film. Unfortunately, it can sometimes feel as though you are in a horror film. The feeling of dread that washes over you the evening before the new week begins is something we all have felt. It definitely sucks all the fun out of your Sunday evenings. To help you fight back, here are a few ways you can beat the “Sunday scaries.”

Make Sundays Fun

It may be the looming week that scares you, but making your Sunday fun may help to distract you from your anxiety and stress. Try treating yourself to some self-care, do anything that lifts your spirits and brings you joy. Another great way to avoid any work-week stress is by avoiding texts or emails. Put your phone down and enjoy your free time.

Make Monday Evenings

There’s nothing more exhilarating than having something to look forward to. Avoid the Monday blues by scheduling something fun for the evening. This can be anything from a yoga class to a new episode of the Bachelorette.

Adjust your attitude:

Attitude is everything. There’s no point in complaining about the end of your weekend and the mountain of work that you have waiting for you. Instead, spend the rest of your Sunday enjoying the present and having fun!

Brainstorm strategies:

If the thought of heading into work brings you stress and anxiety because there’s a task waiting for you, why not spend a few minutes writing down what needs to be done. Breaking the task into smaller chunks and coming up with solutions may help to ease your stress. Create a to-do list that arranges tasks according to priority. Organising yourself physically and mentally can do wonders.

Adjust your schedule:

A great way to alleviate some Monday morning stress is by getting started on tasks ahead of time. This is only if you cab, but try and tick things off your to-do list on Friday. It may help to free up some time when you head to work on Monday.
