Falling leaves and cooler weather make Autumn an amazing time to add more moisturiser and switch up your self-care routine. Taking care of yourself can look slightly different during this cooler season, so to help you revamp your routine, here are a few autumn self-care staples you should try:
Autumn Clean:
It’s like spring cleaning, but for autumn! The weather is getting cooler, which means it’s time to put away the summer blankets and say hello to cosier ones. Autumn has always brought a sense of shedding or renewal. Therefore, take advantage of this time by decluttering your space and getting rid of anything you don’t need. It may not sound like a self-care practice, but it’s a great way to clear your space and mind at that. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed in certain areas of your life, cleaning your space can contribute to feeling organised and in control.
Cook yourself a meal:
When someone cooks you a meal, don’t you feel a sense of love resonating from the dish? Cooking yourself a delicious meal is a great way to show yourself some love while expressing some creativity too. Use seasonal veggies like squash and root vegetables to add an earthy and wintery element to your dish. If you’re not big on cooking, this may be an excellent time to learn and expand your horizons!
Join a club:
We all love Netflix, but sometimes our mind needs a bit more stimulation. Switch off that episode of New Girl and engage in something that you’ve always wanted to start. This can be anything from a new podcast or book. Literally anything that gets the cogs in your mind turning. Take it a step further and join a virtual book club. It may help you to meet new people while staying snug in your pj’s.
Indulge in a Pamper Day:
Light some candles, put on a cosy robe and grab your favourite face mask. Taking time for yourself, even if it’s a simple 10-minutes, is a must. This simple act of self-love allows you to take charge of your physical and mental health, allowing you to become more productive and boost your energy. A pamper day doesn’t have to include fancy face masks and eye cream, so make sure you take the opportunity to do what you love!
Take it outside:
We’ve all heard about the benefits of spending time outside. This autumn, make sure you layer up and spend your free time in nature by taking a hike or going mushroom foraging. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you get your body moving. This will help to improve your mood and concentration when the winter blues inevitably hit.
