On Sunday afternoon, Eskom announced that they will resume with load shedding from Monday, March 9 – 12 due to several unplanned breakdowns. They expect these to be fixed during the course of this week.

In a statement, Eskom said they will implement Stage 1 load shedding from 9am to 11pm from Monday.

“Implementing load shedding will put Eskom in a better position to meet the rising demand during the week. Work is also continuing to return to service some of the unplanned breakdowns we experienced,” Eskom said in their statement.

They added that the system is currently constrained, unpredictable and vulnerable and urged users to pay careful attention to their usage as well as the load shedding schedules.
